Hyundai Undead

Following last year's Hyundai Undead marketing campaign for the 2013 Elantra Coupe, the car brand has teamed up with "The Walking Dead" and its creator Robert Kirkman yet again. This time, they’ve launched The Walking Dead Chop Shop, an iPhone, iPad and soon-to-be Android app inspired by the show and comic book series that lets fan design their own survival machines. Music in One Image

RPM's Creative Lunch kicked into full swing with this interesting blog post from Edit. A bunch of inspired designers were briefed to represent a musical genre using just one element and one typeface. Successful projects like this demonstrate that graphic design doesn't have to be overcomplicated; clever, yes, but often the simplest of designs work best. Above we have 'The Twist', 'Folk' and 'Metal'.

Stripping Back the Branding

We're intrigued by design consultancy Antrepo's latest project, which focuses on stripping familiar consumables down to basic packaging and branding. In their words, "Our latest project is about simplicity and we try to find alternate simple versions for some package samples of the international brands. We think almost every product needs some review for minimal feeling". The website presents an 'original version' of products ranging from Nutella to Cornflakes to Durex, followed by a 'simple variation' and then a very basic 'more simple variation'.

The Cineroleum

This summer a derelict petrol station on Clerkenwell Road will be transformed into a hand-built cinema celebrating the extravagance and ceremony of the picture palace.

Primarily constructed using donated and found materials; The Cineroleum will be an improvisation of the decadent interiors that greeted audiences during cinema's golden age. Popcorn, paper tickets, elaborate signage and flip-down seats will collectively recreate the familiar excitement of cinema-going.

Enclosed by an ornate curtain strung from the forecourt roof, The Cineroleum will host screenings from sundown four nights a week. With a programme of off-beat classics that celebrate the social experience of watching the big screen, stars from Buster Keaton to Barbarella will flicker, dance and shoot their way over The Cineroleum screen. Just as the drive-ins of 1950's America brought cinema out from its enclosures and into suburbia, The Cineroleum will be a street-side cinema that is truly exposed to the city.

The project has been conceived and built by a collective of young artists, designers and architects committed to the creative re-use of urban spaces. With 4,000 petrol stations currently lying derelict in the UK, this pilot project demonstrates the potential for their transformation as exciting and unusual spaces for public use.

Bombay Sapphire & The V&A

Bombay Sapphire and the V&A's Summer Camp event are collaborating with designer Giles Miller to create martini-style glasses made from card, complimented by a ‘log cabin-esque’ cardboard encased bar. The bar will serve a unique Bombay Sapphire Summer Gin Punch cocktail and the V&A Summer Camp will also feature six tents located throughout the venue showcasing displays from other designers. The main feature of the event is a communal Campfire tent, where visitors can enjoy poetry and folk music.

Solar Powered Metallic Cloud Museum

Located in the Southern Chinese City Xiamen, this eye-catching structure sits in the middle of a resevoir. Floating above the ground, the design of the museum echoes the flowing water and provides not only an environmentally friendly solution to energy but space also. You can check out some more images of the design here.

Dreamy Design

Is it just us, or is this the best thing you've seen on a Tuesday morning? A great example of innovative design-sadly not avaliable in Ikea!

Visual Dictionary Of Curiosities

Master letterpress printer and artist John M. Carrera created this touching, intricate book by sifting through 12,000 original engravings provided to him on loan, and meticulously restored them over 10 years. The result is a true labour of love and an extraordinary visual account of Victorian history.

Want To Get Noticed?

Another effective idea from a freelancer. This copy-writer sent in a pack of fridge magnet words to our Creative Director. The quirky way that freelancers advertise themselves is definitely a hit within the studio and a good way to make people remember you!

What's In Our Creative Lunch?

Over to our Junior Designer Lucy Heale..

This Johnnie Walker piece of promo aims to educate the viewer on the great blend of flavours in their Black Label edition. The brand have done this by using each square section of this product to describe a different scent by infusing it with each particular smell.

It is interesting to use and doesn’t give everything away at once; starting off as a square which can be unwrapped. You are encouraged to read it and smell it along the way engaging all senses!

I also really respect the production of it; the card is smooth with no signs of how the scent has been placed into it and you also find that you can only smell each section when you hold it very close, so none of them overpowers the other.

This is infact the concept behind it all; a blend of balanced flavours that do not overpower eachother.
