If you can't have fun in a supermarket, by the frozen pizzas, then life's not worth living.

RPM'S HR Manager On The Importance of HR

Why did you choose HR?
“What I like about HR, is that each day is different. Without sounding too dramatic, every day presents its own challenges so I do never have to do the same thing twice. I’d also like to show that HR is a positive thing and not associated with being in trouble as some assume!”

What makes a good HR Manager?
“Someone who is open, honest and approachable. If HR Managers aren’t easily accessible or friendly, people won’t find it easy to speak to them and any business is only as good as its work force; if they aren’t happy, the outcome can be negative for the business.”

How Do You Ensure People Are Content?
“I make sure I know everyone’s name, and take time to chat to each member of staff on a regular basis. If I have a meeting with someone, I’ll ensure that I stick to our brand promise and ‘Say & Do’, which means that if there’s every any issue again, they won’t hesitate to come to me. We also make a lot of effort to reward our staff for all their hard work. Last Friday for example, we held a football themed BBQ in the courtyard with drinks and grub to end the week on a high.”

What Makes A Good Office Environment?
“I do think RPM is one of the best office environments I’ve worked in. We have an open doors policy, and the MD and CEO attend each and every one of our events, supporting our staff and congratulating them on all their efforts. We’ve been voted well within the top 50 of the 100 Best Companies To Work For by The Sunday Times for five years, so we’re definitely doing something right!”

RPM's World Cup BBQ

After a hard weeks work, we decided to reward our staff with a world cup themed BBQ in the courtyard of The Old Treacle Factory.

Bunting, flags and banners decked the walls and the smells of sausages and burgers filled the streets of Sheperds Bush as RPM tucked in...and tucked in....and tucked in....

I bet that squirrel wishes he hadn't escaped now....

Human Dominoes

This advert for Miller beer shows people falling like dominoes right up until they reach a man standing at a bar, about to order a Miller.

No humans were damanaged making this. (We think...?)

Who Said Commuters Can't Have Fun?

For those looking to move a little quicker, auto giant Volkswagen has created a “Fast Lane” slide at the Alexanderplatz subway station in Berlin. So the commuters have the choice to either take the staircase or have fun and save time by sliding down the Fast Lane.

The useful marketing stunt is a followup to their previous”Fun Theory” initiative in Sweden, which had them transforming a stairway into a giant piano.

Clever Piece of DM

To show just how sticky the new Super Sticky Post-It note really is, Publicis wrote the recipient's address onto the Post-It note instead of onto the envelope. Risky tactic, but shows a great confidence in the product as well as impressive creative delivery.

Cheers to Strongbow!

We had a brilliant time at the Bowtime Bar at Isle of Wight this weekend.

The pints were poured, the sun was shinning and queues mounted outside the doors as some of the UK's most exciting up and coming DJ's and bands performed.

As the RPM crew walked through the grounds, it was clear the festival goers were loving their Strongbow giveaways; almost all were adorning Strongbow bandannas or lying in the sun on their Strongbow blankets.

If you went to the Isle of Wight or Rockness festivals, we'd love to hear what you thought of Bowtime. Either post your opinions on our twitter page, @rpmltd or e-mail

Here's to a great start for Bowtime!

Greenpeace's New BP Logo

Greenpeace have asked creatives to adjust the BP logo in order to reflect the more sinister side of its activities, including sourcing oil from tar sands, deepwater drilling and the company's perceived inactivity and irresponsibility in the wake of the latest oil spill crisis off the Gulf of Mexico.

Having looked on Greenpeace's website, I can see this has been extremely popular with a huge variety of over 700 entries. There have been so many in fact, that Greenpeace have created a Flickr site to display this 'creative rage'. It's definitely worth a look.

The logos have been used by a number of websites and blogs, and The Guardian has managed to source a rather funny film off the back of the campaign that is actually more amusing than it is effective; but it still makes the point. The clip documents people being interviewed about what they think makes a good oil company, whilst they get slowly more and more engulfed by oil until a whole tub of oil is poured over a man’s head.

......ok so the best part of the clip is the very end, when the BP logo melts into a sea of brown with the line ‘Green Is The New Brown’.

All this creative fervour is a brilliant way to raise awareness of this initiative- long may it continue.

Strongbow Comes Alive!

Another year of the Strongbow Bowtime Bar is upon us! Hurrah! Starting off at Rockness and Isle of Wight festivals this weekend, punters are in for a real treat. The structure is bigger and more sophisticated than ever, and the line-up is sure to get you ready for a good boogie. Watch out you don't spill that pint though! See you at Bowtime.....

Lauren DiCocci

Check out this brilliant embroidery work by American artist Lauren DiCocci, who bases her work around the physicality of everyday objects. She says:

"The tedious handiwork and obsessive care I employ to create my work aims to remind the viewer of these simple but intimate pieces of everyday life and to provoke a pang of nostalgia for the familiar physicality of these objects"

Visual Dictionary Of Curiosities

Master letterpress printer and artist John M. Carrera created this touching, intricate book by sifting through 12,000 original engravings provided to him on loan, and meticulously restored them over 10 years. The result is a true labour of love and an extraordinary visual account of Victorian history.

Louis Vuitton World Cup Case

For this year's World Cup, FIFA commissioned the sugar daddy of all hand-bag labels, Louis Vuitton, to design a special FIFA World Cup trophy case.

The handmade case consists of 18 carat gold with a base of semi precious malachite. It measures 36cm in height, is fitted with Louis Vuitton’s brass lock and corners, and features the company’s iconic monogrammed canvas.

Sod the trophy...we'll take the case!

Short Attention Span?

Great concept behind this ad for the Worldwide Short Film Festival. For those that do have the patience to read it, the writing is suprisingly well crafted. http://www.creativecriminals.com/
